Eryc (Erythromycin) Dosage and Side Effects

ERYC is an antibiotic for the treatment of mild to moderate infections by certain microorganisms.

Warnings and Precautions

BEFORE you use ERYC talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you:

  • Suffer from liver disease.
  • Suffer from myasthenia gravis, a condition characterised by muscle weakness, difficulty chewing and swallowing and slurred speech.
  • Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
  • Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Erythromycin is excreted in breast milk.

While taking ERYC:

  • Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.
  • Stop taking ERYC immediately if you become pregnant and consult your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor and pharmacist that you are taking ERYC if you are about to start taking any new medicines.
  • Do not stop taking your medicine until your doctor tells you to, even if you are feeling better.
  • Do not use ERYC to treat any other medical complaints unless your doctor tells you to.

Side Effects

ERYC may cause side effects. If they occur, they are likely to be minor and temporary. However, some may be serious and need medical attention.

ERYC may cause liver problems and liver dysfunction with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and discomfort, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), diarrhea, inflammation of the pancreas, itching and skin rashes, hearing problems (associated with very high doses), confusion, hallucinations, vertigo (dizziness, balance problem) and seizure.

Long-term use of ERYC has been associated with the growth of not sensitive bacteria or fungi and bacteria initially sensitive to ERYC. If such infections occur, stop taking ERYC and call your doctor or pharmacist.

Interactions with this medication

Drugs that may interact with ERYC include:

  • alfentanil, midazolam and triazolam (sedatives which may be given before an operation)
  • astemizole* and terfenadine* (antihistamines, for treating allergies)
  • atorvastatin, lovastatin (for reducing blood cholesterol)
  • carbamazepine, hexobarbital, phenytoin (for epilepsy)
  • chloramphenicol, clindamycin and lincomycin (for infections)
  • cyclosporin (for prevention of rejection after graft or organ transplant)
  • cisapride* (for stomach disorders)
  • digoxin and quinidine (for heart conditions)
  • dihydroergotamine, ergotamine (for migraine)
  • oral anticoagulants (for preventing blood clots)
  • pimozide (for psychiatric disorders)
  • theophylline (for breathing problems)

Proper Use of this medication

Usual dose:

Follow your doctor's instructions carefully about how much ERYC to take and when to take it.

ERYC should be swallowed, at least 30 minutes and preferably 2 hours before or after a meal.

Antibacterial drugs including ERYC should only be used to treat bacterial infections. They do not treat viral infections (e.g., the common cold). Although it is common to feel better early in the course of therapy, the medication should be taken exactly as directed. Skipping doses or not completing the full course of therapy may (1) decrease the effectiveness of the immediate treatment and (2) increase the likelihood that bacteria will develop resistance and will not be treatable by ERYC or other antibacterial drugs in the future.

REMEMBER: This medication is for YOU. Never give it to others. It may harm them even if their symptoms are the same as yours.

Overdose:

In case of drug overdose, contact a health care practitioner, hospital emergency department or regional Poison Control Centre immediately, even if there are no symptoms.

Do not take more capsules than your doctor has told you to.

Missed dose:

If you should forget to take your capsule at the usual time, take it as soon as you remember unless it is time to take the next one. Continue with the remaining doses as before. Do not take more than one dose at a time.

Tilt your head back, push your eyelid down to create a small gap, and place the dropper tip above the eye. Look up and away from the dropper tip, squeeze a drop and close your eye. You may press the corner of the inner eye, near your nose, with your finger to help the medicine drain. If there is extra solution, simply wipe it.

Let fifteen minutes pass and wear your contact lenses. If your eyes feel irritated or are infected, don’t put your lenses back in them. To limit contamination, avoid touching the container tip to the eye itself or any other surface. Wash your hands before and after use. It is also important to use your levobunolol medication at the same time every day and make sure not to miss a dose.

Benzamycin (Benzoyl Peroxide/Erythromycin) Information

Benzamycin is a topical skin medicine prescribed for treatment of acne. It has two medicines that are used to fight acne: benzoyl peroxide and erythromycin. This acne medication is ideal for treating mild to moderate acne vulgaris. It is only available by prescription. Benzoyl peroxide and erythromycin both act as a topical antibiotic.

Benzamycin 3%/5% is manufactured by Sanofi Aventis. We have it available in pack size of 46.6 grams as a product of Turkey. There is no generic alternative available on the market. Compare our price on Benzamycin gel by clicking on "CHECK PRICES".

The estimated shipping time would be 10 to 18 business days to USA. There is a standard shipping charge of $9.95 per order.

A valid prescription is required to buy benzamycin gel online from PriceProPharmacy.com

Benzamycin Dosage

This gel should be applied topically to any area that is affected by acne. It will then kill the propionibacterium acnes (P.acnes) bacteria. It seems to work well when one has active acne papules or pustules. While it may take time prior to seeing improvement of your symptoms it is important to keep applying Benzamycin gel the way your doctor has prescribed it.

Concerning usage, apply to all the affected areas of your skin two times a day. The most preferable times are morning and evening. Prior to this, wash your face with a mild cleanser and let the skin dry fully. Next, apply a thin film of Benzamycin gel over the skin and leave it to dry.

When dry it looks clear rather than white. If you notice a white film, then you have applied an excess amount. Try applying a smaller amount the next dosing time. Make sure that Benzamycin does not get inside your nose, eyes or mouth as it can irritate them.

Side Effects

As with other topical acne treatments, Benzamycin is likely to cause some side effects. However, you are likely to suffer from just the most common side effects. These include:

  • Skin peeling and dryness.
  • Some users may also notice stinging, burning, itching, irritation and redness
  • The skin might look discolored too, also called hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation, and it could feel more sensitive when you are out in the sun

Common side effects are much more tolerable and do not have to be reported to the physician.

On the other hand, if you notice more severe side effects like skin hives, diarrhea, nail fungus, skin fungus or cramps, call your doctor immediately. Moreover, this medicine could cause side effects that are not mentioned in this article. So it is upon you to report anything unusual to your doctor.

Precautions

Let your doctor be aware of the following:

  • That you are using other prescribed or non-prescribed acne medicine
  • That you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant
  • That you are breastfeeding a baby.
  • That you are allergic to any ingredient in Benzamycin

Note that the medication can cause skin dryness and flaking. To combat these, get a non acnegenic or non comedogenic moisturizer.

Tazorac Gel (Tazarotene) Medication Information

Uses

Tazorac Gel is a prescription medicine used on the skin to treat facial acne or plaque psoriasis.  Tazorac Gel contains the active ingredient tazarotene and belongs to the retinoid drug class.

Acne (pimples or zits) is a common condition that happens when skin pores become clogged.  Acne breakouts on the face and body are most common in teens but can continue into adulthood.

Psoriasis is a disease that causes inflammation in the body.  This inflammation can lead to areas of built-up skin cells called plaques.  Plaques appear as raised, silver or grayish scaly patches of skin.  They can be itchy and painful.  There is no cure for plaque psoriasis, but avoiding specific triggers and using prescription treatments can help.

Dosage

Tazorac Gel comes in two strengths: 0.05% and 0.1%.  Two sizes of each strength are available: 30-gram and 100-gram tubes.

Apply Tazorac Gel one time each day, in the evening.

Precautions

Tazorac Gel is not safe for everyone.  It isn’t known if Tazorac gel is safe for use in children under 12.  Tazorac is not recommended for large areas of psoriasis or acne, covering more than 20% of the body.

Before using Tazorac Gel, be sure to let your doctor know if you have any of the following conditions:

  • Pregnant or plan to become pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
  • Eczema or any other skin problems
  • Past allergic reaction to Tazorac or its ingredients

If you become pregnant while using Tazorac Gel, stop using it, and contact your doctor immediately.

Side Effects

The most common side effects of Tazorac Gel depend on your reason for using it.

With Tazorac Gel for acne, the most common side effects are peeling, burning, dry skin, redness, and itching.

With Tazorac Gel for plaque psoriasis, the most common side effects are itching, burning, redness, worsened psoriasis, and skin pain.

Regardless of your condition, Tazorac Gel can rarely cause the following serious side effects:

  • Skin irritation
  • Sunlight sensitivity

To reduce the chance of skin irritation, only use a thin layer of Tazorac Gel on affected plaques or acne areas.  Always wear protective sunscreen, clothing, and a hat in the sun.  If you do get a sunburn, stop using Tazorac Gel until the skin heals.

Interactions

Don’t use skin products or cosmetics that make your skin dry while using Tazorac Gel.  You should also avoid medications that make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.

Storage

Store Tazorac Gel at room temperature (77°F or 25°C).

Pharmacist Tips

  • Skin should be clean and dry before applying Tazorac Gel.
  • Apply a thin layer of Tazorac Gel only to the affected acne or plaque areas.  Tazorac Gel may cause severe irritation if applied to unaffected skin or areas with eczema.
  • Do not apply Tazorac Gel to the mouth, vagina, or eye area.

Tazorac Gel FAQs

Why do I need to take a pregnancy test before starting Tazorac Gel?

Tazorac Gel may cause congenital disabilities if used during pregnancy.  For females who can get pregnant, your doctor will order a pregnancy test before using Tazorac Gel.  You must use an effective form of birth control during treatment with Tazorac Gel.

Is it true that Tazorac Gel can help wrinkles and dark spots?

Some studies have shown that the active ingredient, tazarotene, can reduce wrinkles and certain dark spots caused by sun damage.  Talk with your doctor if you are interested in Tazorac Gel for this use.

How long does Tazorac Gel take to work?

You may notice slight improvements after 1 to 2 weeks of using Tazorac Gel.  But it typically takes longer, up to 12 weeks of treatment, to see the full benefits.

Tekturna (Hydrochlorothiazide / Aliskiren Hemifumarate) Dosage and Side Effects

TEKTURNA is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). TEKTURNA is an anti-hypertensive (blood pressure lowering) medicine. It works by decreasing substances in the body that narrow blood vessels and raise blood pressure.

Warnings and Precautions

Do not use if you are pregnant. Stop using this medicine and tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant.

If you have diabetes, you should not use TEKTURNA together with certain heart or blood pressure medicines (such as Accupril, Benicar, Capoten, Cozaar, Diovan, Lotensin, Mavik, Prinivil, Vasotec, and many others).

You should not take TEKTURNA if you are allergic to it.

If you have diabetes, you should not use TEKTURNA together with certain heart or blood pressure medicines, such as:

  • azilsartan (Edarbi, Edarbyclor), candesartan (Atacand), eprosartan (Teveten), irbesartan (Avapro, Avalide), losartan (Cozaar, Hyzaar), olmesartan (Azar, Benicar), valsartan (Diovan, Exforge, Tribenzor), telmisartan (Micardis); or
  • benazepril (Lotensin), captopril (Capoten, Capozide), enalapril (Vasotec, Vasoretic), fosinopril (Monopril), lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestoretic, Zestril), moexipril (Uniretic, Univasc), perindopril (Aceon), quinapril (Accupril, Accuretic), ramipril (Altace), or trandolapril (Mavik, Tarka).

You may also need to avoid taking these medicines with TEKTURNA if you have kidney disease.

To make sure you can safely take TEKTURNA, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions:

  • kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis);
  • heart disease;
  • if you are on a low-salt diet; or
  • if you have ever had an allergic reaction to an ACE inhibitor heart or blood pressure medicine (benazepril, captopril, enalapril, fosinopril, lisinopril, moexipril, quinapril, ramipril, trandolapril).

Do not use TEKTURNA if you are pregnant. Stop using and tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant. TEKTURNA can cause injury or death to the unborn baby if you take the medicine during your second or third trimester. Use effective birth control.

It is not known whether TEKTURNA passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while using this medicine.

Do not give this medicine to anyone under 18 years old without medical advice.

Side Effects

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; vomiting, severe stomach pain; dizziness, difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

If you have an allergic reaction to aliskiren you should not take it again.

Call your doctor at once if you have:

  • a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
  • little or no urinating; or
  • high potassium (slow heart rate, weak pulse, muscle weakness, tingly feeling).

Common side effects may include:

  • dizziness, tired feeling;
  • cough;
  • diarrhea;
  • headache;
  • back pain; or
  • flu symptoms (fever, chills, body aches).

This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.

Interactions with this medication

Avoid taking this medicine with a high-fat meal, which can make it harder for your body to absorb TEKTURNA.

Do not use salt substitutes or potassium supplements while taking TEKTURNA, unless your doctor has told you to.

Avoid getting up too fast from a sitting or lying position, or you may feel dizzy. Get up slowly and steady yourself to prevent a fall.

Avoid drinking alcohol. It can further lower your blood pressure and may increase some of the side effects of TEKTURNA.

Tell your doctor about all medicines you use, and those you start or stop using during your treatment with TEKTURNA, especially:

  • atorvastatin (Lipitor);
  • antifungal medicine;
  • any heart or blood pressure medicines;
  • cyclosporine;
  • a diuretic or "water pill";
  • a potassium supplement such as K-Dur, Klor-Con;
  • salt substitutes that contain potassium; or
  • NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)--aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), celecoxib, diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, and others.

This list is not complete. Other drugs may interact with TEKTURNA, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Not all possible interactions are listed in this medication guide.

Proper Use of this medication

Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

You may take TEKTURNA with or without food, but take it the same way every time.

You may have very low blood pressure while taking this medicine. Call your doctor if you are sick with vomiting or diarrhea, or if you feel light-headed.

Your blood pressure will need to be checked often.

It may take up to 2 weeks before your blood pressure improves. Keep using this medicine as directed, even if you feel well. High blood pressure often has no symptoms. You may need to use blood pressure medicine for the rest of your life.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Keep the tablets in their original container, along with the packet or canister of moisture-absorbing preservative.

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
