Xiidra (Lifitegrast Ophthalmic Solution) Medication Information

Xiidra is a prescription eye drop that may be given to treat symptoms of dry eye disease (DED).

Symptoms of DED may include eye discomfort, dryness, and redness. People with DED do not produce enough tears to lubricate the eyes.

Xiidra works by binding to the protein LFA-1 in cells of the immune system called leukocytes. Xiidra prevents LFA-1 protein from interacting with ICAM-1 protein in corneal and conjunctival cells, preventing DED symptoms.

The standard dose is one drop twice daily in each eye.

Take Xiidra exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Xiidra is supplied in single-use containers. Store them in the original foil pouches until use.

Pharmacist Tips

  • Do not touch the tip of the single-use container to the tip of the eye or other non-sterile surfaces as it can contaminate the drug and lead to an eye injury.
