Arnuity Ellipta (Fluticasone Furoate Powder) Medication Information
Arnuity Ellipta is an inhaler that contains a prescription medication used to treat asthma. It is used for prophylaxis and maintenance treatment in patients aged 12 and older. At the correct dosage, Arnuity Ellipta should reduce the number and severity of asthma attacks.
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory condition of the lungs. People with asthma have “attacks” where the airways constrict, making it difficult to breathe. Symptoms may include shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, and chest pain.
Arnuity Ellipta contains the medication fluticasone furoate. Fluticasone is an inhaled steroid that reduces inflammation in the airways. When used every day, Anora Ellipta is effective in reducing asthma attacks.
Arnuity Ellipta is available as 100 mcg and 200 mcg inhalers. The usual dosage is one inhalation by mouth once daily.
Rinse the mouth with water after using Arnuity Ellipta and spit out the water without swallowing. Corticosteroids like fluticasone can increase the risk of oral thrush if not washed off the tongue.
Common side effects with Arnuity Ellipta may include:
- Upper respiratory tract infection
Arnuity Ellipta is not a rescue inhaler and should not be used for acute bronchospasm. Inhalers with a short-acting beta-agonist (SABA) should be used for rescue treatment.
Rinse your mouth with water and spit out the water without swallowing after each administration
The inhalation powder contains milk proteins, so do not use if you have an allergy to milk or why.
Arnuity Ellipta contains a corticosteroid that can lower the immune system. Tell your doctor if you have a history of tuberculosis, ocular herpes simplex, or other long-term infections.
Arnuity Ellipta may decrease bone mineral density in patients at risk.
Arnuity Ellipta can cause growth abnormalities in adolescent patients.

- If you miss a dose of Arnuity Ellipta, take it as soon as you remember. Do not double up doses.

Arnuity Ellipta FAQs
How do I use Arnuity Ellipta?
Arnuity Ellipta is a dry powder inhaler, which means it works differently than an aerosol inhaler. The inhalation should be one quick breath after you empty the lungs.
How should I dispose of Arnuity Ellipta?
After using all of the inhalations, dispose of it in the regular household trash.
Can I open and close the inhaler without using it?
No. Anytime you open the inhaler, it primes the next dose for inhalation. If you close the inhaler for taking the dose, the dose will be lost.
