Aldomet (Methyldopa) Information
Aldomet is a high blood pressure medicine that is in a class of drugs called antihypertensives. Antihypertensives work to prevent conditions caused by high blood pressure, including strokes.
If you have high blood pressure, your doctor could prescribe you a medicine called Aldomet. As you might know, high blood pressure is bad for your heart and arteries as it overloads them, increasing your risk of a stroke, brain vessels damage, heart failure, and kidney failure.
Also called Methyldopa, Aldomet controls the impulses along given nerve paths. Therefore, it causes the blood vessels to relax, allowing the blood to flow through them quickly and easily which lowers the blood pressure. Methyldopa is a prescription only drug and should not be bought without consulting a doctor first.
Directions
The recommended doses may differ from patient to patient. It is advised to follow your doctor’s instructions and if your doctor wants to change the dosage they will do so. Take the actual dosage every day at the same time and for the required period of time.
Adults should take 250mg to 2g per day and this should be divided into two to four dosages. If being taken by a child, a suspension is available and the right dose will be based on their current body weight. However, the normal dosage is 10mg per kilogram of body weight each day. This can be divided into two to four dosages.

Precautions
