Viagra

Around 30 million men in the United States alone suffer from erectile dysfunction to some severity. ED can be a very frustrating problem and can affect a man's life in many negative ways. ED usually doesn't go away on its own which makes the problem even more frustrating.

Fortunately, Viagra is a type of medication that can solve this problem for most men. But what exactly is Viagra and how can it help reduce your ED problems? Keep reading and learn more about erectile dysfunction, this unique medication, and how Viagra can put all your ED problems behind you.

What You Need To Know About Erectile Dysfunction

Before we dive into how Viagra can help ED, let's first take a look at what ED is and how it happens. Keep in mind that for a man to get an erection, enough blood needs to flow into the penis to accomplish this. This is made possible by two special tissues that reside inside the penis: the corpus spongiosum and the corpus cavernosum.

These tissues are unique because they are very spongy. This makes it easy for them to absorb excess blood and then trap the blood inside the penis. This will ensure that plenty of blood is inside the penis to create an erection.

If enough blood is not able to flow into the penis, then it will not be possible for a man to get an erection even if he is sexually aroused. Also, if blood flows into the penis but is not trapped there, it will flow out and the erection will be lost. Some men with ED may be able to get an erection for only a short period before losing it while some men may not be able to get an erection at all.

The Details

Whatever the case, ED always has something to do with blood flow problems. This issue is more common in older men which tend to have health problems that may affect their flow of blood. For example, older men are more likely to have heart conditions or diabetes, both of which make it quite difficult for blood to flow throughout the body, let alone to the penis.

Other issues such as obesity or damage to the penis may also contribute to ED. Whatever the case, once a man develops ED, it is unlikely that the problem will go away on its own. Keep in mind that certain lifestyle changes such as losing weight and exercising can help lessen the severity of a man's ED.

But in some cases, if these lifestyle changes don't do much, then it may be necessary to go to a doctor and get the doctor to prescribe you some medication for that problem. This is where Viagra comes in. Most people have heard of Viagra before because it is one of the most popular drugs for ED on the market.

But how effective is this drug really and how can you know that it is going to help you?

How Does Viagra Work?

Viagra also goes by the name sildenafil and it comes in the form of a pill. It comes in many different strengths such as 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg pills. Viagra is a glass of drug known as a PDE5 inhibitor.

This is short for phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor. While this may sound very complicated, the way it works is quite simple. When a man becomes sexually aroused, the body will release nitric oxide which will help the blood vessels in the penis relax.

This, of course, will allow blood to flow into the penis to cause an erection. In the case of erectile dysfunction, the body, for whatever reason, may not be able to produce enough nitric oxide to make the blood vessels relax to the extent that an erection would be possible. Specifically, phosphodiesterase type 5, which is an enzyme, plays the role of breaking down the process involving the creation of nitric oxide.

What You Need to Know

This will make it difficult for the body to produce nitric oxide. This is where Viagra comes in to help. Since Viagra is a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor, the drug can inhibit this enzyme. That way, the body can produce nitric oxide in a much more plentiful way which will allow the blood vessels in the penis to relax.

Once that's done, it should be easy to get an erection. Viagra works quite quickly for some people, although in some cases, it may take up to 4 hours. More commonly, it only takes around 30 minutes to an hour to kick in.

It is recommended that you take this pill around 30 minutes before you plan to engage in any sexual activity. This will allow your body plenty of time to metabolize the drug so that it can kick in at the right time. Some men may experience side effects when taking this drug.

For example, some of the side effects include flushing, sweating, and dizziness. Some men may even be allergic to this drug which will cause even more serious side effects, but this is very rare. In general, Viagra does a great job of solving the problem of erectile dysfunction.

All About Viagra

Viagra is one of the most popular drugs on the market for treating erectile dysfunction. It works by blocking an enzyme that prevents or stunts the production of nitric oxide. By doing this, it becomes much easier for a man to achieve an erection.
