Drysol (Aluminum Chloride)

DRYSOL comes in different formulations to treat different areas of the body.

The medicine is usually used for two or three nights, until you notice results. After that, it's typically applied once or twice a week, or as directed by your doctor.

Apply DRYSOL at bedtime. For best results, the medicine should be left on your skin for six to eight hours.

Follow the instructions on the product label carefully. Don't apply more or less DRYSOL than is recommended.

Be sure to use DRYSOL on skin that's completely dry. You may need to dry your skin with a hairdryer first.

After applying DRYSOL on your underarms, you may want to wear a T-shirt to keep the medicine from rubbing off on your bedsheets.

If you're using DRYSOL on your hands or feet, you can wrap the areas in plastic and cover them with cotton gloves or socks. Don't tape the plastic onto your skin.

If you're using DRYSOL on your scalp, you can wear a plastic shower cap to keep the medicine from rubbing off on your bedsheets.

In the morning, wash or shampoo the treated areas and dry them with a towel.

DRYSOL Overdose

DRYSOL may be harmful if swallowed.

If you accidently swallow this medicine or suspect an overdose, contact a poison control center or emergency room.

Missed Dose of DRYSOL

If you miss a dose of DRYSOL and use it regularly, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule.

Don't apply extra DRYSOL to make up for a missed dose.

Common Side Effects of DRYSOL

Tell your doctor if any of the following side effects become severe or don't go away:

• Mild itching, burning, prickling, or tingling of the treated area

Serious Side Effects of DRYSOL

Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following serious side effects:

• Signs of an allergic reaction (may include hives, rash, itching, chest tightness, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat)
• Severe burning, redness, or swelling of the treated area

Talk to your doctor before using DRYSOL if you have a serious medical condition or are allergic to ingredients in the product.

Also, let your doctor know if you're taking Antabuse (disulfiram) before using DRYSOL.

Don't apply any other deodorant or antiperspirant while using DRYSOL without first talking to your doctor.

Avoid getting DRYSOL in your eyes, mouth, or nose, or on your lips. If this happens, wash the area thoroughly with water.

Don't use this medicine near an open flame. DRYSOL contains alcohol and is flammable.

Tell your healthcare provider if your symptoms don't improve, or worsen, while using this product.

Don't use this medicine on irritated or broken skin. Also, avoid using DRYSOL on areas that have recently been shaved.

DRYSOL may stain certain fabrics or metals. Keep the medicine away from surfaces that you don't want to stain.

Never share DRYSOL with others, even if they have the same symptoms as you.

Pregnancy and DRYSOL

It's not known whether DRYSOL can harm an unborn baby.

Let your doctor know if you're pregnant, or might become pregnant while using this product.

It's also not known whether DRYSOL passes into breast milk or could hurt a breastfeeding baby.

Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding while using this medicine.

Tell your doctor about all prescription, nonprescription, illegal, recreational, herbal, nutritional, or dietary drugs you're taking, especially those listed in the DRYSOL Warnings section above, and any of the following:

• Other deodorants or antiperspirants
• Flagyl (metronidazole)
• Tindamax (tinidazole)
