Kenalog (triamcinolone acetonide) Dosage and Side Effects

KENALOG is a type of corticosteroid that works by reducing inflammation in the body. The topical form of the medicine is used to treat different skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis, and allergic reactions.

Proper Use of this medication

Topical KENALOG comes as an ointment, cream, lotion, and aerosol spray. It also comes as a paste for the mouth.

The medicine is typically applied two to four times a day.

Wash or soak the affected area first before applying KENALOG.

Apply a thin layer of KENALOG lotion, ointment, or cream. Then, rub it in gently.

To use the KENALOG aerosol, shake the bottle well and spray onto the affected area for about two seconds to cover a spot about the size of your hand. Cover your eyes if you spray the medicine near your face.

If you're using the dental paste, apply a thin layer (just enough to cover the mouth sore).

Follow your doctor's instructions carefully when taking this medicine. Don't apply more or less KENALOG than is prescribed.

Don't apply this medicine to other areas of the body or wrap the treated area unless your doctor tells you to do so.

If you're using KENALOG on a child's diaper area, be sure to use loose-fitting diapers.

KENALOG Overdose

An overdose of topical KENALOG isn't likely to produce life-threatening symptoms.

However, if you suspect an overdose or accidentally ingest KENALOG, contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Missed Dose of KENALOG

If you miss a dose of KENALOG, apply it as soon as you remember.

However, skip the missed dose if it's almost time for your next scheduled dose.

Don't use extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
